U ambijentu Stare Termoelektrane u Tabačini, publika Međunarodnog festivala KotorArt imaće priliku da 18. jula prisustvuje predstavi „Smrt u Dubrovniku“, autorskom projektu reditelja Petra Pejakovića, nastalom na osnovu ličnih i arhivskih materijala. Predstava je dio programa 25. jubilarnog izdanja Međunarodnog festivala KotorArt, koji ove godine obilježava četvrt vijeka umjetničke izvrsnosti i posvećenosti savremenim umjetničkim izrazima.

„Smrt u Dubrovniku“ nastala je u produkciji Dramskog studija Prazan prostor, u saradnji sa Akcijom za ljudska prava, a kroz pozorišni jezik otvara pitanje kulture sjećanja i odgovornog suočavanja sa prošlošću. Tekst predstave zasnovan je na više od 30 svjedočanstava prikupljenih kroz istraživanje ličnih iskustava i arhivske građe, sa namjerom da se kroz umjetnost progovori o ratnim događajima u Dubrovniku i okolini tokom 1991. i 1992. godine.

Autorski tim predstave čine dramaturškinja Anja Pletikosa, autor muzike Ilija Gajević, kostimografkinja Lina Leković, scenografkinja Ivanka – Vana Prelević, saradnica za pokret Anđelija Rondović i producentkinja Marija Backović. Kroz snažnu dokumentarnu osnovu i umjetničku interpretaciju, predstava istražuje posljedice rata, odgovornost pamćenja i potrebu da se glasovi svjedoka sačuvaju kao opomena budućim generacijama.

Projekat „Smrt u Dubrovniku“ realizuje se u okviru inicijative „Opsada Dubrovnika 1991–1992: Sjećanja na rat da se zlo ne ponovi“, uz podršku Evropske unije kroz regionalni projekat „EU podrška izgradnji povjerenja na Zapadnom Balkanu“, koji implementira Program Ujedinjenih nacija za razvoj (UNDP). Predstava predstavlja umjetnički odgovor na opasnost zaborava i podsjetnik na značaj suočavanja sa istinom kao temeljem izgradnje društva zasnovanog na miru i razumijevanju.

Međunarodni festival KotorArt ističe se po umjetničkom kvalitetu i jedinstvenim koncepcijama svojih programa, a proglašen je festivalom od posebnog značaja za kulturu Crne Gore od strane Vlade Crne Gore. Pokrovitelji festivala su Ministarstvo kulture i medija i Opština Kotor. Više od dvije decenije KotorArt značajno obogaćuje našu kulturnu i turističku ponudu, a organizuje se uz veliku mrežu lokalnih, nacionalnih i međunarodnih partnera iz sfere kulture i turizma. Kvalitet programa i značaj festivala potvrđuje i pokroviteljstvo UNESCO-a, podrška Evropske unije, Fonda za Zapadni Balkan, Fondacije za otvoreno društvo, nagrada Wild Beauty Award za najbolju manifestaciju, EFFE titula koju dodjeljuje Evropska festivalska asocijacija, kao i dugogodišnja saradnja sa značajnim kompanijama i organizacijama.

In the setting of the Old Power Plant in Tabačina, the audience of the International Festival KotorArt will have the opportunity to attend the performance “Death in Dubrovnik” on 18 July, an original theatre project by director Petar Pejaković, created based on personal testimonies and archival materials. The performance is part of the programme of the 25th jubilee edition of the International Festival KotorArt, which this year celebrates a quarter of a century of artistic excellence and dedication to contemporary artistic expression.

“Death in Dubrovnik” was produced by the Prazan prostor Drama Studio, in cooperation with Human Rights Action, and uses theatre as a medium to address the culture of remembrance and the responsible confrontation with the past. The text of the performance is based on more than 30 testimonies collected through research into personal experiences and archival sources, with the aim of addressing, through art, the wartime events in Dubrovnik and its surrounding
areas during 1991 and 1992.

The creative team behind the performance includes dramaturg Anja Pletikosa, composer Ilija Gajević, costume designer Lina Leković, set designer Ivanka – Vana Prelević, movement collaborator Anđelija Rondović, and producer Marija Backović. Through its strong documentary foundation and artistic interpretation, the performance explores the consequences of war, the responsibility of remembrance, and the importance of preserving the voices of witnesses as a warning for future generations.

The project “Death in Dubrovnik” is realised within the framework of the initiative “The Siege of Dubrovnik 1991–1992: Remembering the War so Evil Does Not Repeat”, with the support of the European Union through the regional project “EU Support to Building Trust in the Western Balkans”, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The performance represents an artistic response to the threat of forgetting and a reminder of the
importance of facing the truth as a foundation for building a society based on peace and understanding.

The International KotorArt Festival stands out for its artistic excellence and unique program concepts and has been proclaimed a festival of special importance for the culture of Montenegro by the Government of Montenegro. The festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media and the Municipality of Kotor.
